The D Max Law Enforcement LE series short barrel NFA entry weapon in 10MM, shown with walnut stock and Butler Creek folding stock, 36 round side feed magazine and Williams peep site. The D Max Industries weapons were originally conceived in Myrtle Pt, Oregon. The company and design was purchased by Morrow County sheriffs deputy David M Dugger who renamed it D Max Industries and relocated to Auburn, Washington. At the Auburn facility Dugger enlisted the services of Charles "Chuck" Karwan a renouned firearms writer, instructor and technical expert and myself ( Douglas Schwab ) as production manager and chief machinist to add to his own military and law enforcement expertise and the D Max line of weapons you see here were born. The D Max was originally designed as a 45 ACP entry weapon specifically for law enforcement. The Auburn facility streamlined the design and added the 10MM and 9MM calibers to the line as well as NFA short barrel and suppressed options for law enforcement. Our friends at Butler Creek set us up with their folding stock and we integrated that into our design as well. A new street legal D Max with 16" barrel was put into production to break into the public market, and it did. Demand for the 45ACP and 10MM exceeded production capabilities at the Auburn facility and D Max relocated to a new facility in Monroe, Washington. It was about then that some politicians in Washington D.C. decided to ban domestic manufacture of "assault" weapons. For about a year the D Max eluded the anti-gun witch hunters but eventually they discovered it and demanded that the D Max Industries entire line of weapons also be added to the ATF list. Shortly thereafter ATF served the company with a cease and desist production order and effectively delivered the fatal shot to the head of D Max Industries.
